Laura Nkula-Wenz is a lecturer and researcher at the African Centre for Cities, University of Cape Town. Until early 2025, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on the SNSF-funded ‘Governing Through Design’ project, where she led the South Designs initiative and the organisation of the 'Planetary Design - Reclaiming Futures' conference. She is a human geographer by training with a passion for African urbanism, particularly African urban theory and governance, new pedagogies of the city and public culture. Laura also serves as an editorial committee member for Gateways: International Journal of Community Research and Engagement.
