Building Resilient Research Communities

The Organization Studies Research Network was founded on a commitment to providing innovative spaces for members to interact, converse, and learn from each other. In this critical moment, we must re-imagine the scholarly conference. We should consider our climate impacts, public health obligations, the need to dismantle the enduring blockages of access and participation for segments of our local and global communities, while at the same time supporting the development of meaningful personal relationships.
We are taking on these challenges by offering a blended conference experience, with session types explicitly designed to make the most of both online and in-person social knowledge processes. In conversation with our Research Network Members, we have been reflecting upon the kinds of scholarly conferences we need for our sustainable social futures.
You do not need to commit either to a place-based or virtual presentation at the time of submission. You can present both ways, or change your mode of the presentation if your preferences change. The choice to participate virtually could also be a moral decision – for the planet, for security, or when the financial burden of travel is too great. We aim to foster spaces that align with principles of social justice and community development.
This way we build for our Research Network Members flexible, and at the same time resilient, spaces for communication, engagement, and participation.

Themes and Special Focus

Founded in 1993, the Organization Studies Research Network comes together around a common concern for, and a shared interest to explore, new possibilities in knowledge, culture and change management, within the broader context of the nature and future of organizations and their impact on society. We seek to build an epistemic community where we can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries.

The Twenty-second International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organizations calls for research addressing the following annual themes and special focus:

  • Theme 1: Organizational Intangibles and Tangible Value
  • Theme 2: Knowledge Economies as the Constant
  • Theme 3: Organizations as Knowledge Makers
  • Theme 4: The Value of Culture and the Demand of Change

1 Present to a Global Audience

We pride ourselves on the global diversity of our network members. Add your voice, in-person or online, by submitting a proposal today. You will need the following: presentation type, short/long descriptions, keywords, focus, themes, and biographical information.

Also remember, you do not need to commit either to a place-based or virtual presentation at the time of submission. You can present both ways, or change your mode of the presentation if your preferences change.

2 Personalized Presentation Pages

The development team at the Common Ground Media Lab has been working tirelessly to create a next-generation web platform to support a robust blended conference experience.

All presenters are given personal Presenter Pages: Linked to profile page on CGScholar, displaying abstract summary, thematic connection to panelists and peers, ability to add digital media: video, sound, other files, formal citation as a conference presentation.

3 Publishing Opportunities

We are working to change the way in which knowledge is produced, validated, and shared within member-based Research Networks.

The Organization Studies Journal Collection and Book Imprint offer pathways to transform your presentation into formal research objects. We also support a number of affordable Open Access pathways to allow maximum flexibility and affordability to support principles of open research, in a sustainable manner.

Participate with Audience Passes

Audience Passes are for those who want to benefit from the content, connect with presenters, and join the discussion -- in-person and online. You'll gain access to all headline presentations: welcome addresses, plenary addresses, and curated thematic content -- either live or from any place and in your own time. And you'll be able to participate in innovative blended formats -- Talking Circles, Garden Conversations -- using the best of in-person and online capacities, and on a human scale. All audience members will be recognized in the program for their participation.

Important Dates

We welcome the submission of proposals at any time of the year. All proposals will be reviewed within two to four weeks of submission. The dates below serve as a guideline for proposal submission based on our corresponding registration deadlines.
